Factory 530CCA Yuasa battery that failed. The positioning of the battery above the exhaust manifold is a stupid and negligent design flaw that Kia badly needs to address as failures are commonplace and not covered by the 3 year factory warranty. 12 months is all you get on the battery. The glass fuse casing supplies power to the car stereo amplifiers.
Here it is ... tiny eh ? Totally sealed (no acid leaks or fumes) so can be mounted anywhere even inside the vehicle, in any position except inverted. Packs a lot of power and is infinitely better in every conceivable way over conventional batteries. Sure they're dearer but you can't expect everything for nothing. The only problem is cutting the securing rod down to size so it will fit the smaller battery size or making a base to raise it up to fit the cradle.
Here they are side by side; one very boiled factory Yuasa battery versus the steel cased Hawker Odyssey ES12V800. Design features, safety, performance, reliability and convenience make it a far better proposition than standard replacement.
